Some of the real Mrs. Browns I've met have visited places that can be viewed or even toured on the Internet, so if you'd like to take a quick cyber field trip, you can click on any of the sites below:
Take a virtual tour of the museum at Wormsloe State Historic Site in Savannah, GA with Ms. Renee Brown's fourth grade class from Butler Elementary School in Savannah.
View pictures of Lake Fayetteville where Mrs. Tasha Brown Simpson's kindergarten class from Jefferson Elementary in Fayetteville, AR enjoyed a nature walk.
Then travel along with Ms. Joan Brown's first grade class from Engleman Elementary in Grand Island, NE and take an on-line guided tour of the Stuhr Museum. Or take a longer trip to enjoy the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. And while you're there, have fun at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
If you're feeling energetic, take the Muskegon Community Walk with Mrs. Lisa Brown's third graders from Campbell Elementary School in Muskegon, MI, and visit the historic Hackley Library and the Muskegon County Museum. (And keep your fingers crossed that one day they'll get to take their dream field trip to Florida and visit the manatee they've adopted through the Save the Manatee Club.)
For a glimpse of nature visit Red Canyon Ranch, where Mrs. Deborah Brown from South Elementary School in Lander, WY enjoys seeing whitetails, mule deer, moose, and sometimes elk. Her second graders love the hands-on experience of seeing different animal habitats and examining the difference between shed antlers and horns.
Or join Mrs. Deborah M. Brown and students from Indian Head Elementary in Indian Head, MD on a visit to the wonderful Air and Space Museum.
Are you feeling brave? Then you might want to travel to Gunston Hall, where the fourth grade students of Ms. Jennifer Brown from Poplar Tree Elementary in Chantilly, VA have seen their favorite exhibit: the "door to nowhere," which has no doorknob and bears strange marks which the Masons, who lived at Gunston Hall, called "ghostmarks." If you enjoy that historic house, then follow along on the rest of this class's excursion. First see Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, and then take a look at Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate. The living colonial farm on Mount Vernon (and especially its delicious johnny cakes) is also a favorite of Mrs. Deborah M. Brown and her students.
Next how about an exciting day at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg, PA with Ms. Jane Brown's third graders from Middlesex Elementary School in Carlisle, PA?
If you want to visit the Statue of Liberty, you could join Ms. Chelsea Brown's fifth grade class from Ocean Avenue School in Northport, NY. And while you're enjoying their company, you might as well tag along on another field trip and visit the wild array of sights to see in Philadelphia.
Maybe you'd like to take a whirlwind tour with the second grade class of Miss Joanne Brown from Hopewell Elementary School in Hopewell, NJ. Then hop back on the cyber-school bus and join Ms. Terry Brown, who teaches at Gulfside Elementary in Holiday, FL as she visits her favorite exhibits, the great variety of animals to be found at the Lowry Park Zoo.
Or wouldn't it be terrific to travel with the third grade class of Mrs. Lynette Brown from Kansas, as they return to the world of tyrannosaurus at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, Kansas?
When sixth grade classes from Bowdoin Central School in Bowdoin, ME have taken an exciting overnight field trip to Boston with their Mrs. Brown, a perennial favorite of theirs has been the Omni Imax Theater at the Boston Museum of Science, where there are some special online exhibits that you might enjoy too. This Mrs. Brown's field trip didn't end there, however. It began with a ride in a charter bus with videos and included the Bunker Hill Monument, and Old Ironsides (the U.S.S. Constitution, and the New England Aquarium. Just for fun, they also squeezed in lunch and shopping at Faneuil Hall Marketplace and joined the 45,000 other people attending a Boston Redsox game. How was that for a trip?
The same Omni Imax Theater was also a favorite of the middle school students of Ms. Jocelyn Brown, who spent their overnight trip in Boston too. Their itinerary included the Salem Witch Museum, Paul Revere's house, and a walk inside the world at the Mapparium.
