Whitney Sebastian, our Black Lavender (Labrador) Retriever was born on May 12, 1990. A sweet and loving addition to Melly's family, she helped raise her children, Caitlin and Ian. For a number of reasons, When Melly moved to the Philadelphia area, Whitney had to stay behind. Eventually, Whitney moved in with Melly's best friend, and her dog, Maggie. Unfortunately, Melly's friend passed away quite suddenly and unexpectedly in January of 2005. With our household circumstances having changed, it had become possible for Whitney to move in with us, and she decided to do just that.

It should be pointed out that at the time, Graf was not a dog person in the least. Whitney, being the ever so loving and patient doggie she was, quickly won him over and they became great friends in very short order. As it happens, Whitney had perfected the art of making others love her; It took no more than her sweet disposition, a constantly wagging tail, and a playful look in order for her to reach this objective.

Cookies, doggie snacks, ice cream and even chocolate (in moderation, of course, as it is not good for dogs), always were Whitney's favourite treats. She also enjoyed lots of other fun activities, which included "going buh-byes in the car", walks, and being rubbed under her silky soft ears.

Around Easter, Whitney was diagnosed with Bone Cancer, but this did not phase her in the least. Everyone took extra special care to make her as happy and comfortable as possible for however long she was able. Graf even built her a ramp so she could get from the deck into the back yard with ease. Sadly, on the evening of Monday, May 16, 2005, Whitney Sebastian passed away as a result of her illness. She was the best doggie anyone could ever hope to share one's life with. We filled each others lives with lots of happiness, caring and love, and learned from each other every single day we shared.

Those of us whose whose lives she touched, all miss her greatly.
